Zygarde (Japanese: ジュゴンズ, named after Zeus) is a Dragon/Ground-type Pokémon introduced in Generation 6. It is called the Order Pokémon. Zygarde is a legendary snakelike Pokémon. Aura Break is an Ability that counteracts the effects of Xerneas and Yveltal’s Abilities. It was subsequently revealed that there is another, separate Zygarde 50% Form with a different appearance.

Zygarde has three Formes, each with its own set of abilities. However, it is unknown if it will develop into or from any other Pokémon. Zygarde has the following three Formes:

1. Zygarde 10% Form

This form is very small. It only has one cell nucleus, with 10% of Zygarde cells. This Forme is weak to the Dragon-type and highly vulnerable if it’s exposed to excess sunlight. Its Ability is Aura Break, which reverses the effect of Xerneas’ Fairy Aura or Yveltal’s Dark Aura into their opposites. This Forme is fast, but weak. It can only use Land’s Wrath, Camouflage, and Dragon Pulse, the latter only being learned after reaching level 50.

2. Zygarde 50% Form

It has one cell nucleus, which absorbs cellular fluid from the Zygarde Core. It is a bipedal creature with a draconic appearance, but it has a large feline jaw and midsection as well as a partially-exposed spine. This Forme is bioweapon-like in design, uses Dragon-type attacks despite being part Ground type, and possibly having the same properties as Xerneas or Yveltal’s respective Mega Evolved forms.

This Forme can learn four new moves: Thousand Arrows (which disregards immunity to Ground-type attacks), Thousand Waves (similar to Sand Tomb), Land’s Wrath, and Extreme Speed. The latter two are unique for this Forme. This Forme is relatively easy to control, and can be weakened with Electric-type attacks.

3. Zygarde Complete Form

This Forme is made up of Zygarde 10%, 50%, and the “true” Zygarde which turns this Pokémon into its Complete Forme. It will only activate upon learning the move Core Enforcer, which does damage to its own cells. This Forme has a serpentine body with two legs, making it somewhat resemble real world dragons.

This Forme is faster than Xerneas or Yveltal’s respective Mega Evolved forms, but otherwise relatively weak to attacks from its own type. Its abilities are Power Construct (which lowers speed to increase attack) and Thousand Waves/Thousand Arrows (which renders all ground type moves ineffective).

Biology

Zygarde is a Pokémon with three forms. The first form known as Zygarde Core is a small, gray, serpentine-like body with one black hexagonal scale on its chest and four leaf-tipped vines extending from its back. Its eyes are yellow with black pupils. It has several pink tendrils that protrude from its head and surround its neck like a collar, as well as another pair of vines, which hang from either side of its head like ears or horns. Each vine has three sharp thorns shaped similarly to Greek’s Alpha symbol Α .

It can change into the bulkier Complete Form only by absorbing nearby Cells. When it does so, it takes on a larger appearance, growing wings and a tail, while additional hexagonal scales cover its body and red tendrils resembling third eyelashes protrude from the top of its head. Its back now has black rhombus-shaped patterns and the three thorns on each side of its neck become considerably longer. The two vines that were hanging from its ears are now swung around freely in any direction as if they are tails.

Zygarde Complete Form

Complete Form is a tall, bipedal creature with a draconic appearance. It has an immensely long neck, almost half its total height, with six black hexagonal marks arranged like a spinal cord down the middle of the back. On either side of it’s neck there are five protrusions coming out above each shoulder blade area which resemble black armor padding with white lines connecting the “padding”, similar to a Pidgeot. This Forme possesses three fingers on each hand which end in a single, pointed claw. Its lower body has some armored plating covering it, with two sets of rear-pointing spikes below the plates. It has frog-like legs that are somewhat small for its size and a long tail that ends in a large black hexagon.

Zygarde Cell

Cell is Zygarde’s cephalized Forme which is stored within a computer chip inside the mechanical transmission tower at Route 18. It does not have an actual appearance, but can instead change form freely depending on what moves or cells it absorbs which alters its statistics allowing it to adapt to any situation.

As a core, it appears as a mostly black, teardrop shaped body with a single hexagonal scale protruding from the top in a rhombus shape, and a yellow sclerae. It is capable of changing its size at will to absorb cells or protect itself. As seen in the anime, Cells can take over anything mechanical from electronic appliances to Pokémon-sized robots as their hosts.

Cells which have taken control of man-made objects are typically immobile, however Zygarde Cells within Bug Puffs can move while inside such objects. Each Cell has absolute control over all allies linked to it via the Mind Machine Network. If one falls under other influences such as Team Flare’s system, these alliances can shift towards those ends.

Zygarde Core

Core is a small, green hexagon with a single rhombus-shaped scale protruding from the top in a similar manner to Cell. It has been seen changing shape and size at will using leftover cells from its various forms. In this form, it can regenerate lost bodily tissue and appendages as seen when it restored Squishy’s head after being decapitated by Celosia’s Aegislash .

Zygarde Cells are perfectly synchronized with every Zygarde Core due to the Mind Machine Network. An odd feature of Cores is that they seem unable to perform Double Team , instead ‘creating’ copies of themselves only visible to the player using Transform These clones do not have HP and will disappear after losing all of their HP, but they can still damage opponents on contact.

Zygarde’s a very powerful Pokémon. Everyone wants one, not only in the game but in real life too (and we at vmwarehosting can see why). Zygarde has that mysterious charm to it.
