Final Fantasy Characters

About Final Fantasy
This is the best-selling Japanese roleplaying game franchise of all time. It spans back to 1987 on the NES with Final Fantasy. The series is one of the most successful of Square Enix’s products, having sold more than 100 million copies worldwide across all of its titles as of June 2015.
Nintendo and Sony were both chasing after Square Enix in a bid to secure an exclusive deal for Final – Fantasy 7, which eventually got released as a PS1 title only. Nintendo offered $21 million but Square Enix chose Sony instead. More recently, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada revealed that they still regret opting for Sony over Nintendo despite helping them create an industry-standard JRPG franchise.
Despite past issues with Nintendo, there are now rumors that they will be publishing a new title on the Wii U. In an interview with HookShot Inc, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda said that they will be releasing at least one more HD RPG on Nintendo’s console.
How Big Is Final Fantasy?
Final Fantasy 7 was a massive commercial success for Square Enix, selling more than 11 million copies worldwide on the original PlayStation alone. This made it the highest-selling Final – Fantasy title and second highest-selling RPG of all time at that time, behind only The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
It is interesting to note that Wii U hasn’t been too successful in Japan compared to Nintendo’s other consoles. Perhaps this is why they have chosen to release a new game there instead. Both Sony and Microsoft have managed to pick up exclusives from Japan, with Sony securing both Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy 15 already while Microsoft signed a deal with Platinum Games for Scalebound.
Final Fantasy Character Designs
A great deal of thought goes into designing each character in the Final – Fantasy series. With each new title, Square Enix has to come up with a number of different characters that will suit the setting and plot. Sometimes there is a link between some characters and other regular ones that appear throughout the series like Cid, Biggs, and Wedge. Others, like Vivi and Serah, exist only in one game but play integral roles within their own stories. The designs range from chibi-like pixel graphics on older titles to anime-style 3D models used more recently. They have been drawn by artists such as Yoshitaka Amano (/Legend of Mana), Nomura Tetsuya (Kingdom Hearts) and Yoshida Tatsuya.
Throughout the series, there are recurring themes that include warfare, travel, and exploration. Worlds can be completely different with each visit in some titles, while others have settings carried over from game to game like Midgar or Spira. Exploring these vast worlds is a big part of what makes the games so fun for many fans. This will certainly be no different when the new title releases on Wii U.
Characters Reimagined
Over the years, many great characters have been created in the Final-Fantasy series. There are fan favorites like Cloud Strife, Tifa Lockhart, and Lighting along with more recent characters like Noctis Lucis Caelum from Final Fantasy 15.
There are also some really weird character designs that were quickly forgotten about, including Kimari’s “weapons” in FF 8 and most of the cast of FF 13-2. Square Enix is famous for releasing spinoffs of its most popular titles that experiment with new gameplay mechanics or feature different universes with altered rules. These typically go down well with fans who want something a bit different from traditional turn-based fighting systems while still the reliable aesthetics associated with other main titles.

Many of Nomura’s characters are beloved by fans, however, some question his design choices due to the excessive focus on clothing or accessories.
