Days Gone Ending
Before we get into anything it is important to note that the following article may contain spoilers for Days Gone and potential spoilers for any other game(s) mentioned within this piece! If you wish to avoid these please stop reading now! For those of you who continue on we thank you and hope you enjoy what we have put together.
Moving onto our main topic then, as many of you will know by now at launch there were some pretty glaring issues with Days Gone release such as the crashing/glitching that players were experiencing all throughout their play through of the title however it has recently come to light that even more issues exist in spite of how small they may be, such as the ending to Days Gone not actually making any sense.
To be more specific it has been shown that both endings to each of the different factions in Days Gone do not follow on from one another which means that if you do decide to take down say the Freakers and Clearwater separately instead of doing them side by side there apparently is no resolution to either situation.
Freaker and Clearwater Ending
If you go with the Freakers ending first and wipe out all of the Clearwater chapter members, a cinematic will show Deacon killing Obison before progressing into a scene where he reunites with Boozer. However, if you save Clearwater for last, there won’t be any cutscene of Deacon returning to Boozer when he kills Obison this time around, resulting in nothing changing even though you went out of your way to perform two separate Faction endings.
To be quite frank this is f***king ridiculous and it’s something I never expected from one of Sony’s biggest titles for 2019 – not only that but it seems like this was never patched either since the game released (i.e there seems to be no mention of an update whatsoever).
Moving away from all that now, due to the fact that Days Gone has been confirmed as having a Season Pass it does indeed mean that more updates will come at some point in the future (hopefully before 2020) however until then you can expect even more patches/information regarding DLC arriving in the coming months.
That aside this latest update has added around 15 minutes of cutscenes to the game as well as a number of new dialogue crates (from what I’ve heard) – these changes are based on the main campaign and it’s something that fans will no doubt appreciate.
Secret Ending
In the game’s main campaign, which takes around 40 hours to complete, there’s plenty more to do after the credits roll. There are still remaining Ambush Camps to clean up and secrets to find. It’ll be these mysteries in particular you’ll want to search for, since there is a hidden conclusion that you can watch. We’ll look at how to get the hidden ending of Days Gone later in this article. We’ll also attempt to provide an explanation for the conclusion, as well as what it might imply for a potential sequel.
How to Get the Secret Ending in Days Gone
The Days Gone Secret Ending occurs at the end of the game, well after the main storyline’s credits have rolled. It involves O’Brian, a Nero researcher, and has long-term implications for the series. The following is a thorough description of this ending.
To get to the True Ending for Days Gone, you must first finish the game. This will happen during the Assault of Wizard Island mission. All you have to do now is keep busy. Take on any of the prologue story missions that you can and finish any Nero Research sites you may have left unfinished, as well as take down any Camps that may still exist. O’Brian will contact you shortly after and ask if you could meet him by the Old Cemetery (spooky).
Days Gone Secret Ending Explained
The Days Gone Secret Ending has major implications for the serious, as it introduces a new component to the Freaker virus. O’Brian claims that his superiors at Nero, who have been studying the virus, have known all along that the disease was evolving. In fact, it is changing in such a way that individuals who are currently immune will be affected by its expansion.
The virus is growing more powerful and exerting control over normal people. The grizzly news is punctuated by O’Brian taking off his helmet to reveal a particularly vascular forehead. Even more frightening, he appears to use his newfound Freaker abilities to leap several feet in the air and board the helicopter himself. He warns Deacon that Nero is on his way for everyone, then departs.
When you’ve completed all of that, you’ll be able to craft a secret weapon that utilizes all of the Days Gone IPCA Tech you’ve stockpiled, as well as a unique Finding NERO design to add to your bike’s Days Gone skins. You’ll notice a percentage completion, but don’t worry if it doesn’t hit 100%; it’s linked to other activities you’ve done in the world.
Will There Be a Days Gone Sequel?
The Days Gone Secret Ending strongly suggests a sequel, and it will presumably take place in a new location with entirely new Freakers. The more advanced form, which appear to be nearly human, will most likely be the main adversary type in a Days Gone sequel, and Nero will continue to be the primary antagonist. This will have long-term implications for Deacon and the residents of Lost Lake. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens next.
Why Does ‘Days Gone’ Fails Its Themes?
We at vmwarehosting think that Days Gone is a game that wants to explore serious themes of grief and redemption, but it can’t seem to decide if the end of the world is reality or fiction. Even after it’s revealed that Boozer makes a self-sacrificial move in the climactic final struggle, Days Gone insists he’s still alive. Only a few minor characters are killed, and no one who is so important to Deacon that he is truly affected by their death. Days Gone may be unsatisfying to those looking for a more complex or darker love story in the game’s final hours, but it is undoubtedly incomplete for fans seeking something more fitting to the genre.
